Love, Joy, Peace...

What is the CVPC Food Network Ministry

CVPC’s Food Network is a discipleship outreach ministry that meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month to build relationships and provide food boxes to neighbors and church members in need. We fellowship, share prayer requests and praises during our meetings, and put together food boxes. We minister to members by reminding them that God is with them during the good times and bad, and we show His love to them in practical and tangible ways. We also invite guest speakers from our community to help us learn new skills, such as disaster preparedness or better use of our physical and financial resources. Eleven families have enrolled in the Food Network, and we continue to grow!

How is Food Network different from the CVPC Food Pantry?

The food pantry is open to anyone in the community who needs a little extra help with food. Food for the pantry has to be shelf-stable to be available at a moment’s notice. Food Network members receive a box of fresh milk, eggs, bread, butter, fruits, veggies, and meat. Food Network members must commit to being at the meetings. They also pay a $3 fee and receive a food box worth about $50.

Food Network members have become a family.

Our Food Network members care deeply for one another. We share meals, help each other with needs, and pray for one another. Our varied group consists of church members from CVPC, CV Nazarene, and Gospel Baptist Tabernacle, plus CV community members. It is a beautiful honor to watch the group love, pray for, learn, and support one another.

How can you support Food Network at CVPC?

  • Please pray for us! You can always pray for wisdom and strength for our Food Network family. We also have members with specific health needs, housing needs, and those in difficult situations for their families.

  • Participate: You can help by coming to a meeting- the members love knowing that others care and pray for them.

  • Donate: You can donate your time to teach a particular skill- Gardening, simple car or home maintenance, cooking a specific dish, etc., are all skills welcome at Food Network! You can also donate food or household goods, personal hygiene, cleaning supplies, and paper goods are welcome, or you can donate money. With costs rising, the need is great. Network members need to be filled body, mind, and soul, and you can help!

The Food Network is only possible because of our CVPC Family. Thank you! Your generosity makes it possible for members to gather each month to build relationships, share food, and receive support from one another.

Testimony | Food Network Member Melody A.

“ As the newest member of the food network of the Flintstone, Georgia Community, I am sharing a little information about us in hopes that others will also like to join our group. First of all, it is open to all. Second, it is an excellent support group. We do more than food. We get together every week and receive our food collected from different sources. We meet together in a group and have share time about what has been going on in our lives that week. It is like a form of therapy for us who wish to share or a time of the release of stress that is going on in our lives at the time. The other purpose of bringing it to the group is not only to release stress but for the group to be able to pray for you as well. When everyone is done sharing in the group, the group leader for the day will have prayer for each member present. As a result, I can testify that I can leave with being refreshed and feeling that GOD is with me and HE will take care of things and relax and believe in HIM.

Upon membership, you are given a notebook with a packet containing the plan on the opening page. It reads the following: Who does the opening prayer, the purpose of the meeting, who holds the meeting, any old business or new business to be discussed, closing prayer, and group fellowship and giving.

In the next few pages, the food network has not left the group empty-handed. They have given the group some life sources for the soul, devotionals referenced from "FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY SERIES," every week. For instance: Wed.March 16th, Hope and a Future: (A paragraph is written about this, followed by a Bible verse.)Jeremiah  29:11

This is a small sample of the "FOOD NETWORK  PROGRAM" and what it does in our community. PLEASE help it grow! WE NEED OUR NEIGHBORS!!!”
